New medical products and tests continue to be introduced that changes how physicians practice medicine. However the relationship between family doctor and patient does not "change" so much as it "grows" as we journey through life together. I am privileged to work for amazing people, my patients, some for two decades. My style is to put medical science through a practical sense filter on an individualized basis to provide advice to prevent illness, to help heal when illness occurs, and to provide comfort when a recovery cannot be achieved

Karla spent her childhood growing up around Air Force, as her father was a veteran in the 2nd Air Force. She fell in love with Texas and with the hill country when she joined a small family practice in Burnet. She spent a number of years in Galveston working in women's health - providing prenatal care and family planning for clinics in a 5 county area. Serving on the faculty at the UTMB Physician Assistant Program, Karla helped to train senior PA students in OB/GYN and spent four years working in the Adolescent Pregnancy Unit. Karla lived 25 years in Corpus Christi raising 3 fine young sons into 3 fine young men - swim team mom for her all state swimmer, scout leader for her 3 Eagle Scouts, youth group leader, etc. For 19 years she provided medical care for Camp Longhorn Inks in Burnet, TX - getting to go to camp with her kids and becoming a true part of the CLH family. She moved to Austin in 2010 and is married to a professional chef who works at Barton Creek Resort. They adore traveling around the world and absolutely love Austin. Karla and Jim sing in their church choir and enjoy live music all around the Austin area.
"Family medicine affords the unique opportunity to truly develop ongoing relationships with patients and their families. This is my favorite aspect of the job as a Physician Assistant. I love a small practice that easily allows continuity of care throughout a patient's life."
